Tierney Haines Architects is a RIAI Chartered practice with accreditation in Conservation and was established in 2004. Work varies from new houses, to extensions and renovations of protected structures. We look for poetic connections between landscape and buildings, in form, in material and in presence. Each design is a unique response to our clients’ brief and the local environment. We take inspiration from local buildings, traditional methods and more distant forms of architecture.

We aim for our buildings and gardens to delight and surprise. We consider the brief to be a creative discussion with a Client and through models and samples the client can be fully involved in the design process. We aim to make buildings that speak of their time and place, contemporary buildings.

We don’t get involved in neighbour dispute resolution projects.

Stephen Tierney BA, BSc.Arch, Dip.Arch, MArch, MRIAI

Stephen studied History of Art and History at UCD Dublin and in Rome before studying Architecture at the Bartlett School in London. Stephen has worked for McCullough Mulvin Architects, Ian Ritchie Architects and James Gorst Architects. Stephen has also worked in two London based visualisation firms. Having taught design for three years in London, Stephen now tutors 3rd year architecture at UCD.

Nicola Haines BSc.Arch, Dip.Arch, GLDA

Nicola studied architecture at the Bartlett School in London before completing Horticultural training with the RHS. She has worked with Foster and Partners, Elsworth Sykes and Allies and Morrison in London and HB Design in Hong Kong. She has worked as a landscape designer for 8 years and is a full and council member of the Garden Landscape Design Association (GLDA).
